Over the years I have occasionally noticed others around me taking photos and quietly snapped a pic or two of them. Now, looking back it seems I have built up a bit of a collection. I couldn’t resist sharing it, so here it is:

Local nursery Green Door needed a selection of posters with a brief description of each of their vegetables. These were to help customers decide on the variety that best suited their needs.

In recent years nurseries have begun carrying an ever increasing variety of vegetable seedlings. This has been fuelled by an increased interest in ‘growing your own’ as the general public look for ways to beat the recession. After much debate it was decided that a brief summary of each type of vegetable, listing it’s benefits over other varieties would best serve the buying public at Green Door in Havelock North. The resulting posters were stylish, bright and easy to understand, helping customers make decisions on what to plant, based on what was going to end up on the plate.

3Chillies was responsible for design of the posters as well as writing copy and photography, as seen in the image above.

Magazine Advertising for FarmWorx in Hawkes Bay - with a touch of humour and a fresh approach.

A couple of magazine adverts designed for FarmWorx run in district farming magazines. The brief was to design something “a little bit different” to any previous advertising. These adverts were both seasonal, with one printed in the rainy season and the other in the windy months. They broke from the “norm” in their use of humour and by resisting the temptation to list every service offered by FarmWorks. Feedback was positive and the response to the advertising a great improvement on previous years marketing.

Three photographs were used to create an image depicting data theft.

The image was inspired by the theft of my wife’s laptop. You just never know whether you’ve changed every last password or what sensitive data is stored on the stolen machine. We were left feeling quite vulnerable, not to mention violated. Thanks to good household insurance, the computer was promptly replaced and she’s back up and running.

A little post production work was necessary to remove logos and unsightly dust specks and to give the screen a bit of a highlight.

This is an early touch-screen laptop introduced by Apple in 1997. It was a low cost machine targeted at the educational market. Purple, red, and orange colored eMate prototypes were produced but never put into mass production.
